Senestech

Product Design & Fixture Design

Population control for Roof and Norway rats has been a challenge since the middle ages, due to their ability to repopulate quickly. However, SenesTech has come up with an innovative solution that is safe and reduces population size quickly. Using their liquid formula ContraPest, they are able to encourage continuous consumption, resulting in reduced fertility in both male and
female rats.

SenesTech was looking for a design firm to work with on developing a product that would effectively execute their solution. InterLink Engineering was chosen because of our engineering design expertise as well as our ability to understand, listen, and communicate effectively. We developed a product that aided in the dispensing and usability of ContraPest, resulting in optimal performance.

Project Breakdown

The customer had an idea for a holder but the height of the inner section, in comparison to most standard molded parts, presented serious manufacturing challenges. InterLink Engineering solved this problem by separating the design into multiple pieces, optimizing for molding, strength, and rigidity. SenesTech’s holder is now a multi-piece injection molded part design that snaps together for easy assembly and ensures a sold connection until disassembly is desired.

With a fitting solution to SenesTech’s problem, InterLink was asked to additionally design a manufacturing fixture to assist with production efficiency on the assembly line. The equipment we designed and built uses a handle to easily punch clips into the main part continuously.
